Patrick Harrex

Musical Director

Patrick is an award winning composer whose works have been given live and broadcast performances in many countries around the world. His music has been recorded by Argo, CBC (Canada), Editions LGNM (Luxembourg) and New Music Brighton. In 2005 he established the Sussex branch of CoMA (Contemporary Music for All).  He is Musical Director of Brighton & Hove Arts Orchestra, an open access community orchestra.

 

 

Marco Martinez

Special Advisor

Marco acts as a Special Adviser to New Note Projects. He is a Mental Health Management Consultant & Commentator. Marco is also a recovering alcoholic & addict. He was one of the main participants of Channel 4’s Addicts’ Symphony.

Peter Morris

Peter Morris

Trustee

Peter Morris was born in North London and educated at Merchant Taylors’ School, Sandy Lodge. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1968 and was appointed Deputy Chief Accountant of London Weekend Television. In 1974, he became Finance Director of London Festival Ballet ( now English National Ballet).  In 1989 he was appointed the first full-time Industrial Officer of the Society of London Theatre and the Theatrical Management Association. In this capacity he advised theatre-owners and producers across the UK on all aspects of employment relations. He retired in 2008 and moved to Hove.

Peter was also been a trustee of the Royal Ballet Benevolent Fund and the Council for Dance Education and Training until his retirement.  He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.  His interests include theatre, cricket and jazz.

Dr Malcolm Purbrick

Dr Malcolm Purbrick

Malcolm is a trustee of New Note Projects. After gaining a PhD at Liverpool University (1974) he worked as a research chemist at Kodak, studying novel polymers, before moving on to the University of Naples CNR Institute of Composite and Biomedical Materials in 2005. There he worked as a Research Consultant, participating in the coordination of two multi-partner EU-funded research projects on Tissue Engineering. A choral singer since the age of 12 and a keen amateur musician (guitar, bass, piano), Malcolm became interested in the therapeutic and rehabilitative aspects of music through his active involvement in the Alzheimer’s Society “Singing for the Brain” project.  After retirement, in 2015 Malcolm and his wife Susan moved to Brighton, where both their sons (and four grandsons) also live.

Dan Blomfield

Dan Blomfield

Trustee

Dan is a trustee of New Note Projects. He is in recovery from alcohol and is one of the founding fathers of New Note Orchestra. A regular member since its inception, he provides valuable support to the other musicians.

James McConnel

James McConnel

James acts as a Special Adviser to New Note Projects. James has composed the scores for over100 television documentaries and dramas and has written extensively for many theatre productions. He was the main participant in Channel 4’s Addicts’ Symphony.
